This was an amazing class. The instructor quickly assessed our knowledge with flash photography beginning at the level we were at. He provided clear direction in both configuring our camera and flash settings and led us to several scenarios. Both without and with flash - this helped us visually see what benefits and shortcomings occurred with each shot. Very helpful! Also learned benefits of off-camera flash versus on-camera and when to choose between the two. We learned both outdoor and indoor flash. This was really an eye opener for me. I will no longer be frustrated when taking pictures when the subject is in the shadows with strong sunlight. With indoor flash photography we learned the benefit of using both bounced flash and also when to use color filters to correct different lighting (eg, incandescent, florescent). The instructor carefully listened to each question and provided clear/concise answers then had us try for ourselves. There was never a feeling that we were being rushed or that we needed to move along. All questions were answered. I came away much more confident with flash photography and am excited to use my flash. I can not thank the instructor enough for what he helped me understand with this class. He clearly has the knowledge/experience and shared this with the class. Highly recommend others take this class - you too will come away with a new confidence!

I went to the event to push my boundaries and expand the scope of what I was doing. David fulfilled that for me, encouraging me to move away from automatic settings and try things in landscape photography that I had not done before. I appreciated that leading and will be better at my craft because of that class.

Itching to learn shooting on a zoom lens, I went on the hunt in Long Beach. I found the 70-200 a little unwieldy, I took out my Sigma 24-70 and camped at this spot for the right moment. Also learning how to use Light Room Classic. Editing on the computer takes longer but there is so much more control. I love how it came out.ISO 125070mmf/3.51/100s

This photo was taken in the middle of the afternoon during a parade. For my exposure I had my ISO set to 100. I knew i wanted a shallow DoF so I kept my aperture at 1.8 , and since it was a parade I knew I wanted to freeze motion so I had my shutter speed set to 1/2000. In post I used dodge and burn on the subject and burned the background.
